GE and cinelan have collaborated to create short films by renowned documentary filmmakers that highlight innovative people who are reshaping the world through act or invention. GE Focus Forward – Short Films Big Ideas have established a new platform for storytelling with a global reach.


Beth Comstock, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of GE

Beth Comstock leads GE’s growth and market innovation initiatives, including three company-wide platforms: GE Ventures, which partners start-ups with GE capabilities, and ecomagination and healthymagination, which harness innovation for better environmental and health outcomes.  As Chief Marketing Officer, she also leads the sales, marketing and communications functions.

Previously she served as President of Integrated Media at NBC Universal where she oversaw ad sales, marketing and research, and led the company’s digital media efforts, including the formation of hulu.com, Peacock Equity, and ivillage.com.

In 2003, she was named GE’s first Chief Marketing officer in more than 20 years.  Previously, she held a succession of roles at GE, NBC, CBS and Turner Broadcasting.

Beth is a member of Nike’s Board of Directors and Trustee president of the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.  She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in biology.

Morgan Spurlock, Co-Founder of cinelan

Morgan Spurlock is a New York based writer, director and producer. His first film, Super Size Me, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004 and won him Best Directing honors. The film went on to win the inaugural Writers Guild of America best documentary screenplay award as well as garner an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Since then he has directed, produced and distributed multiple film and TV projects, including the critically acclaimed FX television series, “30 Days,” and the films Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden, Confessions of a Superhero, Czech Dream, Chalk, The Future of Food, What Would Jesus Buy?, and Freakonomics.

In 2010 Morgan was nominated for a primetime Emmy Award, as well as a Writer’s Guild Award for The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! On Ice! His films The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Comic-Con: Episode IV- A Fan’s Hope, and Mansome have all premiered to critical acclaim.

Currently Morgan is working on “Inside Man” an original prime time series for CNN. Each episode will offer an insider’s view into rarely-seen sub cultures of American life. He is also in pre-production on a 3D concert documentary that will showcase the global impact of one of the world’s most popular music acts, One Direction.
